My Students

Our stock of art supplies just doesn't cut it! Help our theatre students create designs using scissors, glue, and markers.

I teach middle school drama / speech grades 6 - 8.

Our title I school district is in a high-risk community where most students are minority and low-income. Though our students struggle at times to succeed, they are passionate, imaginative kids who deserve the chance to experience a creative learning environment.

My Project

In my theater class I try to get my kids to use all of their senses to learn and express what they have learned. We read, speak, write, move, sing, and draw. The students use art supplies to make visuals for class. Most of these activities can be done with little or no supplies. However, whenever we need to do a project that involves set or prop design, I have trouble finding scissors, glue or markers available.

If we had our own set of supplies for Speech/Drama, our class would get their projects done quickly and neatly without having to wait for scissors, glue or markers from other classes.

This will also allow us to spend more time on projects as we do not have to work quickly to return supplies. Your donation with allow over 500 children every year to have free and easy access to art supplies for class theater and speech projects.
