Color, Comfort, and Comprehension: A Reading Space for Language Learners
Help me give my students classroom materials such as organization bins, decorative elements, and flexible seating. Storage bins will help keep supplies accessible and our space clutter-free, while decorations will make the classroom feel welcoming and visually stimulating.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My emergent bilingual students are eager to learn, but they face unique challenges in a Title I reading classroom. Many are learning English while also developing foundational literacy skills. To support their growth, we need essential classroom supplies—visual aids, organizational tools, culturally responsive books, and engaging, hands-on materials that make reading accessible and enjoyable. These resources will help create a welcoming, language-rich environment where students feel confident and supported. With your help, we can build a space that nurtures their voices, celebrates their progress, and empowers them to truly thrive.
