My Project
Our high school is a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Across eight periods, I teach math to around 200 students who are creative, hardworking, and eager to succeed. However, they often struggle with staying organized, especially with the overwhelming number of papers they receive across all their classes.
To support their learning, I am requesting colored paper to help create a structured and engaging system for organizing class materials.
With this colored paper, I will print stamp sheets for students to track their classwork and participation, as well as notes and worksheets that will be used throughout our math lessons. Research has shown that color-coding helps students process and retain information more effectively, and by assigning consistent colors to different types of worksheets, my students will be able to quickly identify and organize their materials. This system will reduce confusion, minimize lost assignments, and help students focus more on learning math rather than searching for misplaced papers.
My goal is to make math more engaging and accessible by providing students with a clear, visual way to organize their work. Our school has a full inclusion curriculum, which means that students in need of learning accommodations and special education support are part of the general education classes. Many of my students are visual learners, and incorporating color will not only enhance their understanding but also make their learning experience more interactive.
What makes my students special is their resilience and creativity. At a school that nurtures artistic expression, they thrive when given opportunities to engage with material in dynamic ways. Your support will help them stay organized, build strong study habits, and approach math with confidence and enthusiasm.
