Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are spunky 7th and 8th graders who love to engage in real-world learning about finances and math. We are trying to change our family trees by learning to handle our finances the right way. During this class, students earn "Collins Cash" to use to purchase treats from the Collins Cafe.
Students save for "small and big" purchase and "emergencies."
My Project
My students work hard to earn Collins Cash / Dojo Dollars / Bear Bucks in the classroom. Students then save up with cash in order to purchase small items from our Cafe every Friday.
Students receive Collins Cash for being Respectful, Responsible, and Being Safe.
These character traits are crucial to be a successful adult and contributor to society.
I teach my students that that they need to save up some of their money in an emergency fund just in case something arises that they need to spend their earnings on.
