This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The decision to go to college is one of the biggest milestones one can experience as a young adult. Like all other students across the nation, our 12th grade students have worked hard during the last for years, and many of them are ready to embark on this new educational journey. Our school is dedicated to fostering a strong, college-going culture among our students, and are excited by the accomplishments of our upcoming graduating class. We are a small school located in Hialeah, FL. Our student demographic is mainly Latino/Hispanic, with 221 of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. For this reason, it is even more critical that we help recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of these students, who would otherwise not feel the initiative to pursue a college career.

My Project

Ou class of 2018 only comprises of 80 students, but more than half of the class is set to attend a 2-year or 4-year institution in Fall 2018.

Some of our students have received acceptance into schools such as Montclair, Penn State, University of Arizona, George Mason, Florida State and University of Florida, to name a few.

To celebrate and recognize our college-bound seniors, we will be hosting our first College Signing Day. We will dedicate one full day to those who are making the commitment to continue their education. As part of the celebration, we will be hosting a special recognition “Ice Cream Social” event, along with a slew of other activities. We need snacks and decorations for our celebration.
