My Students

I have an amazing opportunity to be a third-grade Language Arts teacher on the Southeast of Chicago. We currently serve K-6 and will be adding one-grade level each year until we are a K-8 school.

89% of our current scholars qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

All of our scholars live in the Southeast community.We are a high-performing, charter school with a focus on preparing all of our students with the fundamental academic skills and strength of character to pursue all of their goals.

My Project

In Chicago, our scholars are against fierce competition to be chosen into high-ranking selective enrollment high schools.

We work extremely hard everyday to close the achievement gap and to help support our scholars to exceed their goals.

With a total of 4.5 hours of daily literacy, we try to build prideful, joyful classrooms for all of our scholars. Each classroom is named after a university and we have many conversations about college starting in Kindergarten.

3rd grade scholars are Emory University and Harvard University! We want to purchase items that will support our pride like a mascot, flag, and university gear which will help us cultivate a prideful, positive culture in our classrooms!

Not only will we have college pride, but our literacy rotations will be called high-ranking high schools across Chicago. We will need items that represent the four chosen high schools to use as positive incentives during our long, but very important literacy block.
