Ms. Goddard from Foxborough MA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need hands on experience with technology to increase their skills for 21st century college life and beyond.

What makes my students special? Simply stated: everything. Just by getting up and coming to school makes them special. They come to class ready to learn regardless of what their home circumstances might be. Many of my students get on the bus an hour or more before our school day even begins, and then don't return home until dinner. They spend more time at school than they do at home.
I constantly refer to my students as "my kids."Each and every single one of them holds a special place in my heart. I want to ensure that the hours they spend at school are not painful for them. I want to ensure that they continue to feel safe and welcomed in my classroom. I want to ensure that I am helping their high school days be something they look back and remember with a smile, while also preparing them for life beyond my class.
My passion for teaching began long before the Smartboard and Google Classroom, but these advancements have only advanced my ability to be an effective teacher. I am able to assign, collect, and assess student work all online through Google Classroom. I am able to answer email concerns from staff, parents, and students well after the 3:30pm school bell. I am able to have students work collaboratively on papers, video blogs, and Powerpoint presentations. With the rise of technology in schools, I am constantly reevaluating my daily lesson plans. Today's classrooms are filled with innovative teachers and students alike. From flexible seating arrangements to interactive white boards, our classrooms no longer look or operate like they did when we were in school.
"If we teach today's students as we taught yesterday's, we rob them of tomorrow"~John Dewey.
Our school currently has a Chromebook cart, but it is regularly signed out or being utilized for the latest mandated standardized test. The times I was able to use it last school year were some of the most valuable times with my students. Students were able to advance their research skills, their typing skills, and their basic formatting skills. My students were able to work on cloud based documents together and see first-hand the power of collaboration.
I truly believe having a 1:1 classroom this year will advance my students' technological skills to a level necessary for college today. Your donation will contribute to adding 5 Chromebooks to our classroom which will begin to make my dream of a 1:1 classroom a reality.
