This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Located in the Bronx, NY we are being hit hard with tragedy at HLCS. My students are of course devastated by the loss of things like prom and graduation, but they are more so reeling from losses in their family and in our community.
Despite this, they are by and large excelling at online coursework five days a week.
They are planning for college and preparing to attend - come what may.
What we are missing, however, are the celebratory and sometimes necessary equipment to get them excited and prepared to step foot on campus (in the fall or spring).
My Project
Each year we make a big deal of celebrating our graduating seniors, 100% of which have been accepted to college and 100% of which plan to attend college in the fall. We know that may look different, just as most things now do. But, we want to celebrate them just the same. Please assist me in putting together care packages with college necessities so these students can feel our love and support - even virtually.
They may not be on a campus in the fall, we don't know what the future holds, but we do know they have worked so hard and deserve our congratulations and celebration.
