I teach Kindergarten at an urban elementary school in a low-income/high poverty school district. It is an exceptionally diverse student body- racially, culturally, and socio-economically. Many of our students speak languages other than English. The majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students come to school with diverse backgrounds, cultures, languages, and families.
My students love to learn!
Our school community embraces this diversity and honors all children. Despite a variety of challenges our students may face, one common thread among them is their complete excitement for learning and engaging in school activities. The students are eager to be at school and are proud of their academic and social successes.
My Project
This project will help me bring my dream of making the work stations in my classroom more collaboratively friendly to life. The round tables will replace big bulky desks. Making it easier for all to be included around table groups and to move about the room. In kindergarten we also need color printed activities to help us enjoy and learn to our fullest potential. We are tired of the drab, out dated black and white copies. A color printer will allow me to print and use with the class pictures of students proudly working, science projects, math key topics such as pattern and color identification and much, much more.
