My Project

My students are passionate about discussing real-world issues and learning how they can make a difference in their communities. In our civics class, we dive into topics like government, current events, civil rights, and civic responsibilities. But the traditional desks in our classroom make it hard for students to engage in meaningful conversations and group activities.

What we need are collaborative tables—furniture that will allow students to face each other, share ideas, and work as a team.

These tables will transform our classroom into a space that supports dialogue, debate, and cooperative learning. Whether we’re simulating a city council meeting or analyzing Supreme Court cases, having a better physical setup will help students interact more effectively and think critically together.

This project will fund modern, flexible tables that seat 4–6 students each. These tables will make it easy to form small groups, encourage eye contact and respectful communication, and support project-based learning. Students will be able to participate in mock trials, conduct peer-led research projects, and host classroom town halls—all activities that are difficult with our current individual desks.
