My Project
Vertical non permanent surfaces have a positive impact on student engagement and overall learning. Studies done by Peter Liljedahl show that when students work in small groups, standing, and at a whiteboard, they begin problem solving sooner, learn more from others, and sustain their stamina longer.
I have had the opportunity to witness improved student engagement in my own classroom spaces after incorporating collaborative math tasks at standing whiteboards,.
Student quantitative and qualitative feedback has been positive time and time again.
I am in a new space, renovating an old computer classroom that was not designed with collaborative math learning in mind. Contributing to this project would support me in creating a learning environment that promotes a more effective experience for many algebra students!
