This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in an inner-city public school, I've learned so much from my students' resilience. They inspire me to be the best teacher that I can be every day. I teach in the heart of the Bronx. My school is a Title I school. This means that my students are at risk of failure and live at or near poverty. Although​ they face hardships and cope with a variety of circumstances at home, they walk into my classroom with ​incredible enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

I teach 30 bright and enthusiastic children that deserve to have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.

My Project

Although our current normal is working remotely via online platforms, my hope is that we will be back in the classroom this fall. With this being said, the need to build community will be greater than ever. I'd like to provide my students the opportunity to work collaboratively in building and constructing cities by using a LEGO building system or working side by side to construct a marble run. We will build community by communicating ideas, problem solving and taking turns.

My hope is that these resources will enable us to build community while sparking imagination, creativity and curiosity.

Additionally, having two tablets in our classroom will provide immediate access to educational websites that provide interactive activities across all content areas.
