My students need tables for the classroom that will allow them to work collaboratively in groups and change seating areas often to experience working with new peers.
My students live in a small, rural farming community. There are 3 teachers per grade level, keeping class sizes fairly small. My students are eager to learn and work together. They are ready for new experiences and to grow in their learning and ability to communicate effectively with other students. They love to be able to communicate with each other about what they are learning and working on. Through collaboration and communication, my students help their peers to become better students.
My Project
Students thrive on being able to interact with each other. I've found in my years of teaching that many times, students can learn better from their peers, than they sometimes can from their teacher. Having tables for students to utilize a large workspace, without struggling between desks that are all at various heights, will allow my students to collaborate more effectively. Having the ability to change seating arrangements without the hassle of moving all of their supplies, will allow for me as a teacher to give them the ability to work with various peers at all times. Students will be able to build a stronger community and see that it takes a village and teamwork to be successful.
