Help me give my students an inspiring, colorful, comfortable place to learn and collaborate at. The rug will help keep the students focused and on task.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Roberts's classroom raised $266

My Students
My students come to school everyday full of excitement and are ready to learn. That is why I am asking for a classroom rug. It will be used for whole group class meetings, small group learning, math stations, and reading stations. The students learn by interacting with their peers, problem-solving, and sharing. A big part of running a collaborative classroom is having the tools and space to keep the collaboration going.
I work in a community at a Title I school with 52% of students receiving free or reduced lunch.
The clientele comes with a lot of different family cultures. The school staff is always learning new strategies and techniques to increase student achievement. My hope is that student engagement will be increased in a comfortable learning environment where they can feel at home and valued for what they can offer.
My Project
With a classroom rug, my students will have a richer environment to learn. There are many hours in the day and we do varied activities both in a group and individual work. It is optimal for students to have both their desks and a rug to sit throughout the day.
Students can spread out during independent reading, work on group projects, and have rug spots to sit at during mini-lessons and whole group instruction.
They will be using the rug mostly as a spot to collaborate and have class meetings. Students are often better able to concentrate when sitting at the rug for a read-aloud and Reading, Math and Writing Workshop.
