My Project
Our Kindergarten population is composed of a mix of students from different backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, and languages. The children have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic because many of them didn't have rich social pre-school experiences to build their ability to collaborate and communicate. Even with the challenges they faced, they are growing so much as we've worked through the "Choose Love" curriculum to build their social and emotional skills.
My hope is that I can create an inviting area in the classroom that has a shelf with the different open ended, play-based manipulatives.
In the afternoons, I want students to practice collaboration skills through free-choice centers. My hope is that I can observe students as they practice skills and provide modeling in skills like turn-taking, sharing, listening to others's ideas.
It's a time when all children can come together, build, share ideas, and enjoy one another!
