My Students

I get the opportunity every day to teach 8 awesome children! Now I didn’t say it’s easy; but it’s what I love to do.

My classroom is safe environment for children with Autism in Kindergarten/first grade, where I make rigorous but exciting lessons to spark their interests and make learning fun.

I love to teach my students using technology and hands on materials; giving them access to grade level curriculum. My goal is to teach my students that they may not be perfect but they are awesome!

My Project

These hands-on counting materials helps me meet my students where they are. Counting games allow me to help my students build on to their learning, sharing and collaborating with others, making their thinking known to others, revising and verifying their ideas.

Learning to count and create counting strategies allows students to see themselves as competent problem solvers and support them to engage in each other’s ideas so that they can build on their understanding of the underlying ideas of mathematics.

In addition, children learn best when they are comfortable. A new rug for our library area will allow the students to stretch our in their own space while counting manipulative, writing a story, or reading a book.
