This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the most veteran English teacher on our campus, but I have only been teaching 6 years! I need to branch out and learn how others learn to think and think about thinking to learn! Confusing? That's why I need help!

I am a jill-of-all-trades.

I try to help with kids' behavior on campus, support new teachers, and just teach every day. I love my job and campus, but even teachers need new tricks to be the best for their students. In Los Angeles, we have lots of chances to learn, but it can be expensive. I earned my M.Ed at UCLA and am excited to learn more at such a prestigious research university!

My Project

I would like to attend a conference for several meetings over the summer! Yes, the summer! Why? I won't miss time with my students, but I can still gain valuable skills when it comes to helping them practice the thinking skills that will make them successful adults. Cognitive Coaching is an amazing program, but it has always been too expensive to try. With help, I would bring the materials back to my campus to share with my colleagues and students. We could have a great 2015-16 school year, but the time to plan is now!

It is amazing to think I can learn and grow with help just like my students!

I love to learn, and I can't want to take the next step in a lifetime of teaching! Thank you for considering my proposal for making our school a better place!
