Coding Wizards...Continued!

My students need Chromebooks to code! My students will be using Code.org curriculum and Tynker.com to practice coding. We will be debugging code and articulating how we code to each other.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lee's classroom raised $1,290

My Students

My students are a motivated and curious bunch of second graders. They are especially curious about computer science. We can't wait to teach them about why coding is important and how it contributes to the technology we use today.

We want them to feel confident in explaining their thinking process and coding gives our students this opportunity.

The trial and error that is inherent in coding helps our students become persistent and resilient. While they may be stumped by math problems and tricky words when reading, coding helps build their confidence to keep trying and not giving up, a lifelong skill.

My Project

We previously requested Chromebooks in an earlier grant and they have been a huge hit with our students. We are now requesting several more to let each child in our class have their own computer to work on during independent work time.

Chromebooks will help our students access the many resources out there to code!

Our students benefit the most from this grant because they will be able to think independently about their code with their own computer. Then, when they need to share their thinking or would like another student to help them debug their code, they can share with each other the work they've done. Each student having access to a computer is key.
