My Students

Our inner city students come from various backgrounds, where English is not always their native language. They come into school wanting to learn and work hard because school is the safest place for a lot of them. Our inner city students come from various backgrounds, where English is not always their native language. We are a Title 1 school where we receive 100% free breakfast and lunch for our students.

Our students come into school wanting to learn and work hard because school is the safest place for a lot of them.

When they enter my Discovery Lab, the excitement builds because they know they have challenges that they need to face like engineers, scientists, and many other professionals do in the real world. Students love working with their hands to create something or solve a problem. Our school is a wonderful place to learn because of the environment created by the staff. We show our love of learning to help foster that in our students.

My Project

Learning the programming language is something that will be common for students to do in the future. We have a few online resources currently in class, but I want my students to have a chance to program actual robots and see how they can make them move. The robots will be used in hands on centers in the classroom so all students will have a chance to experience how to program robots. This is the second time we are submitting a project for Ozobots. Our first one was a smashing success and I want students to have more opportunities with this particular robot.

By donating to this project you are letting my students be able to take their knowledge a step further, than just working on the computer.

They will gain first hand knowledge about making things move and how programming can lead to careers in the future.
