Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from various social economic backgrounds. They range from low income families to homes where parents are trying their best to raise their children in a neighborhood that has gang related problems daily. There are students that don't have either parent and are either with a foster family or with a relative. Either way, they come to class eager to learn, which is why I wouldn't want anything more but to enhance their excitement for education through games and materials.

My Project

I took a poll of my students on who knew what coding was. Sadly, only a few hands were raised. I immediately knew that I need to expose my students to more coding and engineering in their lives. That's where Botley the Coding Robot came to my mind and I knew this was the perfect way to introduce coding to my students. It's perfect for beginning coders and it will grow with them as they become more experienced with coding.

The accessories pack and activities have coding cards, detachable arms, interactive obstacles, coding games that will sure excite my 4th graders.

I think this is the perfect way to motivate even my technologically disadvantaged students because it is user friendly. It may even motivate them to make it their career. I believe that no matter where you live, all students should be able to experience what all students get to have. To be able to possibly provide that will be an amazing opportunity for my students.
