Coding in Kindergarten

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is full of excitement and energy! My Kindergarten students have many questions and want to know more about the world around them. They always enjoy discovering new things through hands-on experiences!

My 25 students are inquisitive, curious, and full of wonder.

Our school sits in a suburban area, just 10 minutes north of downtown. We have a large ELL population and several different countries are represented through language and culture. I have students with a wide range of abilities, who learn at different times and through different experiences.

My Project

After participating in the Hour of Code this year, my students are even more excited about how the world works, how things grow and change, and how they can be a part of it. Through the purchase of these materials, my students will be able to take their love of coding to the next level. They will be able to physically manipulate the Ozobots and the Coding Mouse in front of them and through a series of obstacles both on paper and in 3 dimensions. They will learn direction, how to communicate 1 and 2 step directions, and how to draw and create paths for the Ozobots and Coding Mouse to follow.

Through the purchase of these materials, my students will have the opportunity to interact with technology and to continue to grow their love of coding.

They learn how to fine tune their directions so that the Ozobots and Coding Mouse can follow them. The Ozobots provide students the challenge of drawing a path on paper and then including directions for the robot to follow through the use of different color pens.
