My first grade students are active, inquisitive learners. They love collaborating and building on the ideas of others.
I want to provide opportunities for my students to use robotics and coding infused with math, art and science learning.
The Sphero's are robotic balls that encourage virtual reality, interactive games, and hours of fun. Student's will program the ball to run obstacle courses, trace and create 2D and 3D shapes, learn about measurement, and symmetry. Sphero's not only teach them to program, but it also teaches them technology and team building skills.
My Project
The Spheros will run on the iPads my students already have in the classroom. Working in teams of 4, my amazing first grade students will create a piece of movement art where the Spheros interact in a symmetrical manner.
In an enrichment activity, students will be presented with different musical pieces and be challenge to create a dance for the Spheros that matches their selected music. Students will simultaneously learn about different musical genres.
I teach gifted and talented first graders. I am excited to provide the materials, guidance, and parameters and then watch what THEY can teach me!
The donations to this project will enhance my students' love for learning.
The Spheros will help introduce them to the world of coding, programming, and visual and musical arts. I also hope to inspire my first graders to continue to love learning and embrace the world around them!
