My Students

In spite of our school being new, over 50% of our students receive free or reduced school lunches due to the socio-economics of this school.

Around 30% of our students receive free or reduced-cost school lunches because of the socio-economics of this school.

They love to explore and create. They come to class excited to see what the day will have in store for them. We have a class full of caring first graders, who work at being kind to each other as we are growing into a great community of learners.

I have three students who have speech therapy, one student who receives special education, and three students who come from non-English speaking homes.

My Project

We are a newer school and therefore don’t have the supplies built up to provide coding experiences for the students. I would like to provide the opportunity for my students to use Go Robot as a way to learn, grow and increase their knowledge.

Coding is beneficial for problem-solving, critical thinking, creating and teamwork.

My students thrive for hands-on learning. They love to explore and take ownership of their learning.

Brooke Brown, a STEM specialist, states, “Coding is the future for today’s kids there are over 500,000 job openings in computer science, in every industry and every state. A computer science major can earn 40% more than the average college student.”
