My Project

My class is seeking support for a project that will provide students with specific learning and communication challenges the hands-on tools they need to develop problem-solving skills. With the Sphero Cars kit, students will use moveable, color-coded mats to create paths for a programmable car. These mats are designed for accessibility, making it easy for even our youngest learners to engage in activities that strengthen their communication, positional vocabulary, and problem-solving abilities. This interactive, sensory based approach helps meet the needs of students who are alternately assessed by offering a meaningful way for them to engage with the content.

This project will be used daily to support a variety of learning goals, from reinforcing positional vocabulary such as “left,” “right,” and “forward” to introducing basic coding concepts.

Students will work to design, test, and refine paths for the Sphero cars, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Through these activities, students will also develop foundational coding skills that will serve them in future learning. The Sphero Cars and moveable mats will provide an engaging, hands-on environment that empowers students with the confidence to solve problems, improve communication, and develop key skills for their academic journey.
