My Students

We are a school focused on student learning. We work to push students to reach their potential and find their passions both in and out of school. We have high expectations for students academic performance and try to help them grow as individuals as well. We do a lot of STEM activities and inquiry based learning. This sometimes requires a flexible classroom environment.

I work with students who are learning and exploring math utilizing methods suggested by Jo Boaler and in an advisory class.

Students in our space are 6th-8th graders who work on pre-algebra and linear algebra. We, also have homeroom in my space where we work on community building and growing as individuals. Our school is a K-8 building in SE Minnesota and has a strong STEM focus using InSciEd Out and Project Lead the Way.

My Project

Students are able to choose different electives throughout the year to explore their passions and interests. In this electives student pairs will design and code a variety of projects using starter kits for Arduino Nano boards.

The Arduino Nano is easy enough for novice programmers and makers to work with as well as flexible enough to challenge more experienced students. After going through a number of projects that are laid out, students will then be asked to work on developing a project of their own.

This is a great opportunity for students to work in student pairs to design and program during the school day. They will be challenged and have flexibility to choose projects that meet their interest and technology comfort level.
