Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The EHS students are an amazing group of students. Despite all challenges they face outside of school, they are still actively involved in both the curriculum and activities.

To meet the demanding needs of the world, we are trying to provide our students with a full-bodied STEM curriculum including computer science.

This year, we have a group of devoted computer science students that are actively engaged in learning to code. They love the challenges they face every day and are excited to be learning something they see as incredibly practical knowledge.

By investigating computer science, these students are preparing themselves with 21st century skills to meet the workforce demand.

My Project

Codesters is an online platform students can use to learn Python and other basic coding languages. In the classroom, students will be able to use Codesters to learn the language of Python as well as share their work with other students. Students work at their own pace through the lessons and complete different activities slowly advancing their code IQ through an investigative process.

Everett High School is excited to offer a Computer Science course, but needs help acquiring quality curriculum at an accessible price.

There is an overwhelming number of students that want to take the Computer Science course, but the need for vetted curriculum is essential.

I have had the opportunity to work with Codesters through Girls Who Code and have found it to be a valuable resource. It makes coding not only easy for students, but also for the instructors. It is fun and challenging and has made a huge impact on the students I work with that are already involved.

This project will supply enough access codes for the entire Computer Science class and bring Codesters into the classroom for all students.
