My Students

I see all the K-5 students weekly as a Library/STEM specialist teacher. I also see 6-8 for an elective STEM class. I have a big range of students that I see daily who are all special in their own ways. Each student is at different levels and they have struggled during this covid time.

Students have missed being able to read books and even more, have not been able to do hands-on projects.

I have seen a significant struggle with the students this year with fine motor skills, and critical thinking skills. The joy and growth that I have been seeing so far with any STEM project that I do have been overwhelming.

My Project

These coding Sphero balls will help my students in all the grades I teach, which is K-8. They will be able to learn what coding is and learn in a fun engaging way. It will also help them build teamwork skills as they can work together to get the "ball rolling".

Covid took away teamwork and hands-on learning for these students.

STEM and coding are a great way to get these students learning and engaged in the skills that they have lost. The specific standards would vary based on the grade level. However, coding can fall under math and science standards for their specific grade levels.
