This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I feel fulfilled when I see my students show their love of learning. They are energetic and eager to go beyond the daily classroom instruction. My all girls robotics team work afterschool to accomplish their programming goals.

The majority of my students are second language learners and come from a low income area where 98% of them are on free or reduced-price lunch.

My hope is to expand their background knowledge about the world around them.

My Project

I'm always amazed to see how excited my students are to participate in robotics. I currently have an all girl team who stay after school to work on problem solving challenges in a collaborative group. My team currently uses a program where they need to build and code a robot to complete challenges. I want all my team members to have the opportunity to experience all aspects of the program. My goal is for them to work in all components of the program from building to programming. My team is currently programming by using my teacher laptop, this has been a challenge because only about 3 students can work together on 1 laptop. The ipad minis will allow my team to have multiple opportunities to learn how to code. With the addition of the ipad minis, all team members can work with a partner to practice and implement their programming skills. I look forward to see what my team can accomplish with their new technology not only now but the interests it may spark for their future.
