My Students

Our school is located on a military base and close to 100% of our students are military dependents. That means they face a lot of challenges such as frequent moves, parent deployment, and living far from extended family. What makes them special is their ability to face these challenges with grace.

Our students make friends easily, adapt to changes quickly, and respond to difficulties with courage and confidence.

They are proud of the sacrifices their families make in order to serve our country.

My Project

Our school library is a community of learners where our students use all kinds of materials to extend classroom instruction and pursue their own passions. They are invited and encouraged to build, create, explore, play, and experiment. We currently have a small collection of library centers materials such as Legos, Dash robots, and Keva Planks. The goal of this project is to expand and diversify the materials so more students have more choices.

Our students will use the items in this project independently and in collaboration with each other to make new discoveries in robotics and coding, build their creativity and critical thinking skills, and create products they can wear and share.

As we return to full in-person learning, I want to encourage our students to be actively engaged during their library visits. I want them to have self-directed, hands-on learning play that brings them joy and builds new understanding. The items in this project will help accomplish that.
