My Students

Our high school is a Title 1 School with 70% of our students with socioeconomic needs. Our courses are blended in a cohort: Chemistry, Environmental Sustainability, US History, English In our Project-Based learning environment, our students solve authentic problems troubling our community. The projects that our students will create this year will address real-world environmental concerns.

In the inner-city of Houston, in the heart of the Third Ward, our students lack access to resources that other, more affluent, students have.

At our school, we strive to bridge this gap through experiences with industry professionals in the STEM-related industries to level the playing field. With our focus on Environmental Sustainability, we strive to help our under resourced learners gain knowledge and experience to be good environmental stewards.

My Project

In our combined US History - Engineering - Chemistry - English III blended learning STEM-based Cohort, our Title-One students are tackling real-world problems in a Project Based Learning Model. Our school follows a "one room schoolhouse" model, with AP, prep, and ESL students all sharing the same classroom.

Rigorous reading is a key component to getting our inner-city students to close academic gaps.

Reading authentic, real-world scientific case studies will push them to see the connections between our four courses. Using a book that has authentic connections to their own community, state, and region will make our learning timely, personalized, and important.
