My Project

With the Create-A-Chain Reaction STEM Kit, my first graders will work in structured teams to design and improve collaborative challenges. Each student will rotate through roles such as Team Leader, Builder, Materials Manager, and Presenter. Rather than simply playing, students will be coached on how to plan together, test ideas, revise their approach, and support one another’s thinking.

Students will learn to communicate clearly, listen respectfully, and make group decisions.

When a design doesn’t work the first time, they will reflect, encourage teammates, and try again. These moments build perseverance and teach students how to handle challenges positively — essential leadership skills.

This project focuses on career-ready abilities including collaboration, problem-solving, responsibility, and public speaking. Students will present their designs, explain their thinking, and celebrate improvements as a team. They begin to understand how real-world professionals — engineers, designers, and project teams — work together to solve problems.

As their teacher, I will coach students through goal-setting, reflection, and teamwork habits so every child has the opportunity to lead and contribute. At six years old, they learn leadership is not about being the loudest voice, but about helping the whole team succeed.

With your support, my classroom will become a place where students practice teamwork, build confidence, and develop skills that will serve them far beyond first grade.
