CNC & Laser Engraving Professional Developement for Art Teachers
I need professional development focused on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines and laser engraving technology so I am requesting materials such as acrylic plastic sheets, engraving material box, and foam board to improve my skills to teach my students.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an art educator committed to providing students with innovative and career-connected learning opportunities, I am seeking funding to participate in professional development focused on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines and laser engraving technology. These tools have become increasingly important in modern design, fabrication, and artmaking. By gaining hands-on experience and training in how to safely and effectively operate this equipment, I can bring new, technology-integrated projects to our high school art curriculum.
This training will empower me to lead students through projects that blend traditional craftsmanship with digital fabrication.
From precision-cut relief prints and mixed media sculptures to custom jewelry, signage, and personalized sketchbooks, the possibilities are vast. Students will benefit from exposure to industry-standard tools that align with careers in design, architecture, engineering, and the arts.
Additionally, I plan to share the knowledge I gain with other teachers in our department and district, amplifying the impact of this opportunity. The funding will cover professional training, instructional resources, and starter materials to support immediate implementation in the classroom.
