I have 32 wonderful and bright students. They are all eager to learn many things in kindergarten. As a new teacher, I am motivated to bring new and exciting ideas into the classroom. I teach in a neighborhood of Chicago to low income students. My school is great, unfortunately, it lacks necessary funding that is greatly needed. The principal and the staff are great to work with. We all help each other in order to benefit student learning, which is most important to me as an educator. Without funding, the students are not given the accurate amount of supplies needed to complete the school year.
My Project
My students need storage sacks to hold all of their school supplies, folders and books. The storage sacks hang on the back of each students' chair. This is nice because it is personal and easy for the children to manage and maintain on their own. The reason my students need a place to put their materials is because they have grouped tables instead of desks with drawers and no place to put their supplies. The table tops are always cluttered and it takes up space. The storage sacks help children learn at an early age how to be responsible and organized.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
