My Students
My students are full of energy, excited to learn, and naturally inquisitive. They want to be engaged in the lessons, instead of being passive learners.
With STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and computer science, students are engaged, and solving both real-life, and fictional problems.
My school has over 900 diverse students coming from different socioeconomic statuses in the largest school district in South Carolina. We have some students in our school who have critical basic needs.
My Project
Our community has many foster care children, and students in critical need. When a student is taken into foster care, the students are often taken from their school with just the clothes on the back.
By having a foster care and critical need closet, we will be able to help our students in this situation, but also the students in our community.
We are asking for shirts and shorts for these students. By being able to provide a basic need for the children, we are hoping to bring the first step of healing and consistency in their lives. A clean pair of clothes may mean the world to a child!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
