Closing the Technology Gap:Fostering 21st Century Skills
My students need ways to connect with the world around them. We live in a very rural area, and my students need to learn 21st Century Skills in order to have success.

I have the best bunch of 6th graders a teacher could ask for.
I teach 50 of the most energetic, excited, eager learners! We are in a public school in Iowa.
My students are eager to learn and eager to learn about the world around them. In our studies, we cover various countries and we read about people from various cultures. I would like to take that so much further.
By using this piece of technology, I could help them communicate in "real time" with people from all over the world and create projects that foster their learning.
My Project
By granting us this "wish", you are opening a world of opportunity for my students. Through access to the Internet, Skype, Facetime, apps, and voice recordings, my students will have the tools needed to be 21st Century learners. The iPod will be used to support the curriculum in myriad ways.
My district is comprised of a wide variety of socio-economic statuses, ethnicities, and abilities.
I want to bridge the gap with my students by giving them equal access to technology in my classroom. These are not skills that are learned for a day or a week. They are learned for a lifetime.
