Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have almost 700 students enrolled at our campus. The majority of our students are English language learners and qualify for free lunch programs. We offer an after-school program that gives low socioeconomic students a variety of classes to choose from and develop certain skills. These range from cooking to computer coding. As the computer lab teacher, I see all students in class at least once a week.

They come eager to learn and excited to take on any challenge.

They look forward to the special classes they have available.

My Project

Girls might not believe they can turn their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects into a career if they see only men in those fields. It’s my duty as an educator to show them the women who have contributed significantly to STEM fields throughout history. Research plays a pivotal role in showing young girls they too can pursue these careers.

Practical and fun engineering activities will give these girls a clear understanding of what they could do in a STEM career.

The building project kits and robotic toys will challenge students knowledge and serve to apply it in real world scenarios. Students will build bridges, create a rocket, and power various vehicles to see truly what STEM is all about.
