My students need 2 Chromebooks and 2 headphones for individual use to access educational software and use Waterford Smart Start at their own pace in order to prepare them for Kindergarten.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students that I serve have delays in at least two areas of development. They may have Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD etc. We are a Title One school which serves students of low income families.
The majority of our students receive free breakfast, reduced and/or free lunch.
They have limited resources and will greatly benefit from the use of technology and other resources and materials in order to maximize their education and allow them to grasp the concept of the world around them and abroad.
My Project
My students are delayed in at least two areas of development, they may have difficulty in communication, attention and overall cognitive abilities.
I'm requesting 2 Chromebooks and 2 headphones so that I can set up a computer/listening station.
At this station, students will be able to listen to stories or practice math and letter identification through the use of educational software such as Star Fall, Water Ford, Speak a Boos just to name a few. By listening through the use of the headphone and focusing on the visuals, my students will embrace learning and enjoy the use of technology.
In my classroom, we practice listening and speaking daily through our daily routine (greeting circle, story time, shared reading, work time, small group, lunch and snack time). Students and teachers interact through daily experiences and various activities as planned. The addition of technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening, attending learning and speaking.
More than half of students from low‑income households
