Closing Phonics Learning Gaps in schools physically & virtually
Help me give my students a reliable all in one printer in order for the reading department to provide students with remediation worksheets both virtually & physical copies in hopes of closing in on the learning gaps.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low economic backgrounds where their neighborhood is surrounded by negativity, crime and violence. Somehow my students manage to come to school every day despite their current rural surroundings.
My school is a safe haven for all the children in the community where they can come and feel safe and know that each person in the building loves each of them whole-heartily.
The majority of my students are more than two grade levels behind and need additional material in order to build them up to their rightful grade level. We currently have about 50% of our students who reside in a homeless shelter nearby. Based on the current data, students require additional phonics practice to build them up to their current grade level.
My Project
Students who are in-person at the school will benefit from this project being funded because they will be able to receive phonics worksheets, packets and activities/games that they can physically take home to practice in order to build on skills that need remediation. Students who are receiving online instruction will received virtual copies via scanned using the all-in-one printer that will be emailed to their student emails and to their parents emails so that they can access, practice and review and also print at their leisure. For, students who do not have access to printing, they will also have the option to pick up their resources at the school which will be printer and prepared by the Reading Coach.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
