My students need 100 clock mechanisms to complete an end of the year algebra project.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Petrey's classroom raised $726

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most students stare at the clock waiting for class to end, but my students look at the clock because it is awesome!
My students live all over Los Angeles and travel by car, bus, and foot in order to receive an excellent education.
More than 90 percent of our students are low-income and typically enrolling performing two to three years below grade level. However, our students make dramatic gains across all subjects, meeting our high expectations and proving what is possible for all students. Our school was also featured in the highly-acclaimed documentary, "Waiting for Superman."
My Project
In our classroom, there is a clock where each of the numbers has been replaced by an equivalent mathematical notation or equation. My students are constantly drawn to the clock and solving the math problems. If my project is funded, my 7th grade students will have have the opportunity to create their own algebra wall clock. My students are having a great year in math, and I would love to let them create a clock that shows everything they have learned. It will help them review concepts taught throughout the year in a fun and engaging way.
I enthusiastically encourage my students to always do their best and never settle for mediocrity; and inspire them to learn and grow.
I want the best for my students and I am constantly looking for new ways to make math come alive!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
