This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Who is ready to move? My students are! Our 160 students need to get moving and strengthen their large muscles through climbing and swinging in our courtyard. Our last climber was very old, and became unsafe for our students to climb on. Please help us climb!
Our 160 preschool students are WONDERFUL!
We have six classrooms, including monolingual, dual language, EC and blended rooms. They have tons of energy and really look forward to gross motor time when they can enjoy working together to strengthen their physical skills. They really need to get that energy out!
My Project
Our students will be able to swing and slide on our new equipment. Our students have 30 minutes of gym time a day built into their schedule. Our last climber was very old and became unsafe, and since we had to get rid of it, our students have nothing for their large muscle use outside. They will practice turn taking and even math skills while on their new climber. We would count all the time while the kids were on the swings, in three languages! Our students will also learn how to climb with one foot at a time on our new equipment. They will then learn how to use large muscle movement in being able to practice swinging by themselves. We will be able to access their climbing and large muscle coordination while observing them on their new climber!
Our students will be able to use this equipment daily.
They will have a positive experience during gym time so they will work towards a life long healthy lifestyle! Many times our families do not take their children to the parks to play on gym equipment, so the thirty minutes with us is all they get!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
