My Students

At UICS St. Mark Center, our students are eager to learn by doing. We use an arts-infused curriculum to encourage self-exploration, build self-confidence, and increase social and emotional development.

I enjoy working with my students, because they are our youngest learners and are eager to explore and learn more about the world around them.

75% percent of our students at UICS are eligible for free and reduced lunch, and 75% qualify for Head Start, Early Head Start, or state childcare subsidies. 87% of our UICS families are single-parent households. We partner with our students and families to provide a high quality early childhood education and resources to set them up for success.

My Project

My infant classroom is filled with investigators eager to explore abilities and try new things. They love climbing, and this project will allow them to safely develop new skills.

Climbing activity centers for our youngest learners will promote strength, gross motor skills, visual perception, spatial awareness, and hand-eye coordination.

In addition to developing physical strength, students will learn new cognitive skills they will need the rest of their lives.

Visual perception helps to identify shapes and process new information. Hand-eye coordination requires visual and motor skills to unite. This is imperative for a child’s development, future academic success, and everyday life activities.

Support will allow me to enhance our classroom and provide our youngest learners room and resources to develop physically and cognitively.
