It's hard to learn to work together in the train center when we don't have any trains!
I have a classroom full of energetic and curious Kindergarten children.
Our school is located in a wonderful town that is financially supported by tourism. Unfortunately, tourism is down due to the oil spill and many of our families are struggling to make ends meet. The children in my classroom are already feeling the impact of parents losing jobs and families losing houses. Our school is one of the constants in their lives and we work hard to make it a happy place for them to learn.
My Project
The parents of a former student recently gave our classroom a train table that their son had outgrown. The children in my classroom were so excited to get the train table. The only problem is that we don't have a train set!
Kindergarten and play are very important roles in shaping the minds of young children. This train set will allow my students to use the train table to build multiple configurations with the train track and buildings. During this "play time", they will be learning to work together in small groups. This is such an important skill to have! Language and vocabulary are two more skills the children will practice when playing with this set.
Your donation will provide my students with hours of fun while they learn to work cooperatively with peers.
The train set will benefit every child in my classroom - from the advanced learners to the non-English speaking children. You can help put happiness back into the lives of children that have already been through so much.
