CLICK and PRINT for Media Masters

My students need 2 great color printers and 4 ink cartridge combo packs to print their magnificent multimedia writing projects in the classroom.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Brier's classroom raised $624

This project is fully funded

My sixth and seventh grade students are boosting their literacy learning through Media. I currently teach nearly 300 students at all performance levels, including Special Education. They are amazing kids, from a variety of cultural, economic and social backgrounds. Some are very poor, without basic supplies at home. Others have access to computers. Few, if any, have printers to publish their fantastic projects. This is the Middle School I attended as a child, and so I feel deeply connected to the students and fully responsible for their learning.

Our classroom provides extra support for struggling readers and writers. When given the Internet to analyze a news article or podcast or a digital camera to document a book review, these scholars come alive and soar to success. Currently, we are creating mini newspapers in the classroom, tackling controversial and thought provoking topics such as the use of GPS technology by parents to track teens, childhood obesity and violence on the internet and TV. The projects are created in multimedia formats on school laptops but we do not have any color printers. The students want to publish and share their work and challenge other students to think deeply about the issues.

We need a small "print lab" in our Media classroom to allow our students to see their projects through to completion. Other projects we've planned include election posters, winter reading booklets designed by students and literature reviews. Students in our media classes often need to print outstanding classwork in other core subject areas such as science and math. These printers will reach hundreds of students and make their dreams come true in full color!

With your help, my talented students will see their hard work pay off as they follow their projects through to the publishing phase, just like professionals in the media. The difference you will make will be visible and real. Thank you so much!
