My Students

The students in our room are enrolled at an elementary school in Reno, Nevada. The culture of our school is special, and students maintain a high level of academic achievement, gain ample opportunities to work with the arts and have built a pretty amazing culture over the last 50 years.

In our room, students work hard and strive to be on a path to college, career and civic readiness.

All students enjoy working with challenging and complex materials that ensure academic and social success.

My Project

This project is about exposing students to the richness and cleverness of the English language.

Students will each receive a copy of Norton Juster's class, The Phantom Tollbooth, and work through homophones, homographs and idiomatic expressions. Students will get to explore how a phrase can have both a figurative and a literal meaning and will in turn will be able to use such devices in their own writing.
