This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is made up of twenty energetic six and seven year olds. They are inquisitive and eager to learn. First grade is a year of enormous growth, especially in the areas of reading and math.

Most of my students are living in poverty, in unstable often chaotic situations.

They are living in an underserved community which often doesn't provide them with the same opportunities and experiences as others. Our school's resources are limited, providing us with only the basics. I am trying to make up for these deficits by providing a safe, nurturing, engaging "virtual" space in which to learn.

My Project

Due to Covid 19, for the remained of this school year (and possibly even into the next) my students will be participating in distance learning. This means that I need to provide them with quality online instruction that will allow them to keep up with their studies, from home.

This pandemic has been a challenge and has really forced me to adapt my teaching skills!

Currently, I am delivering lessons to them through various online apps, including live Zoom three times a week. A document camera and markers would enhance all kinds of lessons and provide clear, sharp images for them to follow along with at home.

Once things get back to normal, and we return to the classroom, I'm sure this camera will also enhance my teaching there.
