My Students
My first-grade class is a place of challenge, discovery, and filled with many different opportunities for all students. They are creating a foundation for their future through learning and education. My students face the challenges of living in a high-poverty area, yet they come to school eager to learn every day.
The students grow and learn in different ways with different supports.
They bring to the class their wonderfully diverse backgrounds as many are new immigrants to our country and have an eagerness to learn English. All of my first-grade students have unique needs and talents that help them grow as lifelong learners.
My Project
My first graders students are smart, enthusiastic, eager, and funny! They enter our classroom every morning with high hopes and an excitement to learn. Our days are packed with learning about phonics, reading, writing, and math. However, with a 9:45 lunch period, we can see our class losing steam. We waddle around like penguins to get some energy and stop to have a snack.
Snacks are an integral component to a first graders life in school because it keeps them alert, motivated and energized to continue learning throughout the day.
Most of our students do not bring in a daily snack and get hungry. Your donations of cookies, fruit snacks, pretzels, crackers, and granola bars will provide the opportunity for each student to receive a snack on a daily basis. These food items are a luxury for students that can not afford them on a regular basis in their household. These snacks will help the students maintain their energy and keep them alert and ready to learn throughout the rest of the day.
Supporting this campaign will fulfill the basic, necessary needs of our first graders and provide a positive boost to their learning.
