My Students

A typical day in my 13+1+1 self-contained classroom can be demanding and stimulating. My days are spent constantly redirecting my students' behavior, teaching to meet the academic needs of each individual student, giving out rewards,etc.

My lovely students are very energetic.

My students ages range from 12 -15 years old. They have various learning disabilities ,vocational and personal needs. They are unique and special in their very own way and they each offer certain skills to make my class a whole. Our school is located in a high poverty area with budget cuts and about 95 percent of our students receive free lunch. Some of our students are homeless and live in shelters. Our Pre-K-8th grade school has close to 1000 students from various diverse backgrounds. The dynamics of our classrooms and the various backgrounds make my job even more rewarding. It is very important to me that my students leave my classroom with a sense of pride, knowing that their work efforts matters to me- big or small should not go unnoticed.

My Project

Developing clean habits, healthy habits and safe habits are not only fundamental, but essential !!!! My students are learning ways to keep themselves clean, healthy and germ-free. The resources at our school are very scarce, therefore I need a helping hand in reiterating these skills over and over again. Without these supplies I cannot effectively and efficiently teach my students the importance of cleanliness, keeping themselves healthy and clean, while protecting their self-worth.

When students feel clean, it improves their over all self-worth, their social-emotional feelings and social interaction skills.

Which in turn creates a warm-welcoming student and a welcoming environment. I am pleading for these supplies to help my students learn healthy habits and promote a clean, germ and flu free classroom. By donating to our project you will be providing my students with an over all sense of pride, vocational skills and social-interaction skills.
