Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I accepted a position at a different school. I will be teaching in a substantially separate classroom for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. I am eager to begin the year and meet all my wonderful students, but I know that I will need a variety of different materials to meet all their individual needs.
Along with the variety of special needs my students have, almost all of my students come from low- income homes.
My students require an organized and productive learning environment. I work to make my classroom a safe and inclusive space where all my students can learn and thrive. My focus is to teach functional academics and social skills. My students love to learn and this will make their learning experience that much more successful and rewarding.
My Project
The supplies I am requesting will be utilized by my students either in the classroom and at home during distance learning if needed. With this shift in education, I want my students to have the tools needed to be successful both at school and at home. I am asking for binders, notebooks, pencil cases, and book bags to help organize their notes and materials. Giving my students these organizational materials will give them a sense of control over their environment. Students use pencils, highlighters, and dry erase markers for writing, math, science, social studies, vocabulary, and creating something new. I am also asking for two air purifiers to ensure the removal and elimination of particles, toxins, and odors from the air in the classroom.
