Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a city where crime rates are high, and there is a 98% poverty rate. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with the same creative and meaningful learning experiences that other students are able to have.

Although I may not be able to control their home lives, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.

By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My students, although only three and four years-old, are hard workers, and they deserve to come to school and feel safe and loved, and I'm happy to be the one who is able to give them that.

My Project

This project will help my students by keeping our classroom organized. Organization can be the key to success. My students can come into the class and know that every one and everything has its place. I have both an AM and PM session of Pre-K, totaling 27 students. I only have my students for a short time each day, and time is precious. I do not want to waste that valuable time searching for items and materials.

An organized class is a successful class!

The Classic Birch Big Bin Shelf will be a storage center for student manipulatives. This will be the most valuable asset to the classroom. We will use the bins to keep supplies in their place. The storage center will be used to put manipulatives and bucket toys away. The storage bins will go inside the shelf and the baskets will go on top of the cabinet for additional storage space. Students will be able to transition smoothly in the classroom while knowing where everything belongs.
