This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the art teacher, in a high need elementary school in New York, I really want to build a top-notch Arts department. The students are eager and excited about learning.

Our school is located in a high poverty area and many of our students live in the neighboring housing projects.

We always have high attendance and the students are excited to learn and explore new subjects in the arts and literacy. The students at our school may not have the same opportunities as many NY students, but there is a team of hard working teachers bridging that gap. I want the students to have a quality art education and the requested materials would help our students achieve their best artwork and develop as young artist.

My Project

I'm requesting various packs of wipes to use in our art room. The arts teach so many important lessons. I watch as my students become more confident and learn to take chances. They learn that at times there is no right answer and that thinking creatively can help you understand many ways to solve a problem. The materials that you will be funding will help my students clean up quickly and safely in the art room. We are still social distancing and trying to leave the art room clean and safe for the next class. We recently rearranged the entire art room so that our students experience a true studio experience. The students now work in the Drawing, Painting or Sculpture centers/studios. The requested wipes will help our students clean both their hands and the tables after art class. We want to be clean and safe.
